By Geetesh Bajaj, James Gordon. You manage AutoText in Word 2011 for Mac by choosing Tools→AutoCorrect. Click the AutoText tab in the AutoCorrect preferences dialog. In the AutoCorrect preferences dialog, you can adjust settings for these additional features. ![]() There are 2 likely possibilities, but I've never seen a File> 'Undo Highlighting' command. Undo is in the Edit menu, but even there you can't Undo anything done before the file was last closed. Actions can only be Undone during the session in which they occur. At any rate, try these methods of removal: 1- Select the text then go to Format> Borders & Shading. On the Shading Page select None, or 2- Select the text then click the right edge of the Highlighter tool on the Formatting Toolbar & choose None. Keep in mind that the shading may have been applied by way of a Style, in which case the best ways to remove it would be to apply a different Style or modify the Style that was used. -- HTH|:>) Bob Jones Office:Mac MVP wrote in message news:59b7851d.-1@webcrossing. I think you may be correct: If the document contains lots of fields, and your Word preferences are set to highlight fields 'Always', any fields in the document will show with a grey highlight. I always run with my field shading set to 'Always' so I can see where the fields are and thus do not mangle them while editing. And I use a lot of fields:-) Word>Preferences>View>Field shading: 'Always' Hope this helps On 18/07/09 5:17 AM, in article [email protected], ' wrote: > Are you sure that the text has been highlighted -- perhaps the highlighted > areas are cross references which now appear to be highlighted text. Hey this was really helpful, my issue resolved by adjusting the Style. Thanks so much! [email protected] 27/3/2014, 0:08 น. My original document was in MS Word 2000/2003. I imported it into OO Writer 3.0, worked on it remotely, and now am trying to use it again in MS Word 2000/03/07. Now, neither Word program can get rid of many highlights that were originally there when I created them in MS Word. I do not want to go back to OO Writer to attempt to fix them because I fear my 200 page document will be further corrupted. I searched OO forums but could not find an answer that was applicable. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate this a lot! Thanks, Brian. Floris v wrote:By 'highlighting' I mean the highlighter function in MS Word. I can highlight the text any colour I want to in order to find it easier. Remove Shading From Text In OutlookExcellent, that means the methods described in this thread will fix the problem. Writer doesn't have highlighting. The highlighting tool just applies a character-level background color. You can achieve the same in by actually creating a Highlight character style using the paragraph's font settings and selecting the background color. Then you'd apply this style to the selected text. Because Writer doesn't have highlighting in the same way Word does, it must convert highlighting from Word to a background color for characters. Going back into Word, there's no way to tell whether the author meant that color to be 'highlighting' or to be a background color, so it remains a background color in Word and that's why you can't use the highlighting function in Word to get rid of it. How To Remove Shading From Text In WordRight-click the text box that you want to make invisible. 1 If you want to change multiple text boxes, click the first text box or shape, and then press and hold SHIFT while you click the other text boxes. 2 On the shortcut menu, click Format Text Box. 3 On the Colors and Lines tab, in the Fill section, click the arrow next to Color, and then click No Color. 4 On the Colors and Lines tab, in the Line section, click the arrow next to Color, and then click No Color.
